Once in the Crystal Caves, you will notice an abundance of different materials of all kinds as well as the signature giant crystals.Įxplore your surroundings as much as is possible while avoiding the Shadow Leviathans and staying out of crevices to keep yourself at a safe depth and away from the deposits that sit at the bottom of the Crystal Caves (these require a Prawn Suit to mine). The Crystal Caves can be reached by heading past Marguerit’s Seabase (underneath the Lilypad Islands) and continuing down the tunnel system that follows. Kyanite also resides in the Fabricator Caves of Below Zero, but these are even deeper and will likely be nearly inaccessible without the Seatruck Depth Module Mk3. Now that you are prepared for your journey you will be headed to the Crystal Caves. It also couldn’t hurt to bring extra food, water, a mineral locator, a Seaglide, and maybe even an additional upgrade for your Seatruck such as the Perimeter Defense Upgrade, Horsepower upgrade, or Afterburner just to help avoid the Leviathans – however, these aren’t necessarily required. You will also need to make sure that your Seatruck is already upgraded with the Seatruck Depth Upgrade Mk2 to make sure it can survive down that far. There also happen to be multiple Shadow Leviathans in these areas, so make sure you bring a repair tool and plenty of batteries so that you will be able to keep your Seatruck in working order. Preparing to Find Kyaniteīefore you begin your journey into the depths, you should know that Kyanite resides in some of the deepest locations in Below Zero. You may even need a piece (or three) of Kyanite to craft a certain set of organs for a certain bodiless consciousness as Subnautica: Below Zero reaches its climax. The third Seatruck depth upgrade being the most important as it is necessary to reach one of the final, and certainly deepest, parts of the game. The deep-blue, heat-resistant crystal can certainly be evasive, but finding some allows you to craft things like the Seatruck Depth Upgrade Mk3, the Prawn Suit Depth Upgrade Mk2, and the Prawn Suit Thermal Reactor. Materials are key in progressing through Subnautica: Below Zero and one that you may have trouble finding on your aquatic adventure is Kyanite.
